The audiobook
My Story, in My Own Voice
I spent three long days recording the audiobook for The Stents I Didn’t Get. I think it’s safe to say professional audiobook narrators have nothing to fear from me. 😂
But awkwardness and all, I wanted to narrate this one myself. It’s a very personal story, and it felt right to tell it in my own voice. Most of the 30-plus heart books I’ve consumed have been through Audible, and I especially appreciate hearing authors narrate their own work.
The book goes beyond my heart journey. One chapter explores Wendy’s experience and what we learned from it. Another focuses on women’s heart health, where symptoms, risks, and patterns of disease can differ from the familiar picture.
And then there are the medical terms.
Trying to say “homozygous methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase variant” smoothly has given me a whole new appreciation for professional narrators. 😂
The Stents I Didn’t Get launches October 28, with the Audible edition expected around November 15.
Stumbles, retakes and all, I’m glad it will be my voice telling the story.
Expected mid-November (tentative).
